Last year we were blessed with the Oscar winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The film saw Spider-Men and Spider-Women (and Spider-Pig) from different dimensions team up to save the day, with Miles Morales taking centre stage.
With all the different iterations of Spider-Man that appear throughout the film and the introduction of different dimensions, it wouldn’t have been far-fetched to have appearances from the live-action Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. The team behind the film have previously talked about the idea and at one point there was a scene written by co-director Rodney Rothman that had all 3 men appearing in the same scene, but it was inevitably left out of the final cut.
Whilst speaking with JOE, Tom Holland talked about about the planned scene for his version of Peter Parker to appear during Into The Spider-Verse, although it never ended up happening.
“At one point I was supposed to be in it. There was going to be another Peter Parker… There was like a scene in a train or something, and it was going to be like an Easter egg. I was going to walk through the background or something, and say like ‘Hey, kid’. Never happened. Heartbroken.”
With the critical and commercial success the film have, Sony already have plans for a sequel and spin-off films. So maybe we’ll see Holland appear in the Spider-Verse universe further down the line.
For now, he returns to the big screen as Peter Parker in Marvel Studios Spider-Man: Far From Home, which hits cinemas on July 2nd.
