Anthony and Joe Russo have been an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Throughout the films Joe has popped up with small cameos. In Winter Soldier he was the doctor tending to Nick Fury. In Civil War he was the dead body that Zemo leaves in the bathtub. In Endgame he is talking with Captain America during the group therapy scene. But he was missing from Infinity War.

As for Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan, he was also not in Infinity War. As revealed by Joe Russo during The Empire Film Podcast, both himself and Favreau originally filmed their parts before it was cut. The pair would have appeared during the early scene in the film in the park when Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are talking, right before Doctor Strange turns up.

Joe Russo
“I’m always first on the cutting room floor if it doesn’t work. Infinity War we didn’t need it so it went bye-bye. I was in the park with Downey and Gwyneth and I was paparazzi. And there was a little gag with Happy. Happy used to be in that scene but we ended up editing around it and altering it just to pace up that part of the film.”

The extended park scene can be viewed below.

Next up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Spider-Man: Far From Home which will be releasing on July 2nd.
