First Avengers: Endgame Draft Had Iron Man Fighting Dead Marvel Hero

What if we told you that in the first draft of Avengers: Endgame, the plan was for Tony Stark to time-travel to Asgard? And that in that scenario, he was forced to fight Heimdall. Whilst it may not have happened in the film, it was revealed by screenwriter Markus McFeely that this was the original plan for Iron Man in Endgame.

McFEELY: “In the first draft, we didn’t go back to the [original] Avengers movie. We went back to Asgard. But there’s a moment in the M.C.U., if you’re paying very close attention, where the Aether is there and the Tesseract is in the vault. In that iteration, we were interested in Tony going to Asgard. He had a stealth suit, so he was invisible, and he fought Heimdall, who could see him.”

Instead of Tony heading to Asgard he went to New York in the final version, leaving Rocket to accompany Thor back to Asgard. Heimdall and Tony Stark have never met in the MCU so this could have been a fun interaction. But we’re certainly glad that we got to see Tony spend time with his Dad in 1970 instead.
