Spider Man: Far From Home shot scenes in Venice and there have been a barrage of pictures hitting social media as the stars of the film have been filming publicly. As a result of this, we have our very first look at Jake Gyllenhaal as the film’s villain, Mysterio!
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Marvel Studios look like they have done a great job with turning a vibrantly coloured comic character into something grounded like they did with the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Although these pictures show the character without his fish-bowl style helmet, this by no means implies that the helmet will not appear in the final film.
Whilst not confirmed, it is believed that Gyllenhaal will be playing the original character behind Mysterio, Quentin Beck. In the Spider-Man comics, Beck was a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job. His attempts to become an actor were poorly received, but he realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective supervillain.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is set for release on 5th July 2019.
